The dispute is from an MCI bill from 1999 when I lived in AZ for a summer between semesters. I first discovered this itch late 2004 on a credit report. Upon calling Park Dansan, the collection agency at the time, they faxed me a letter stating, "The account referenced above has been removed from our collection department. Please be assured that derogatory credit reporting, if any, regarding this account will be corrected promptly. We and our client MCI extend a sincere apology for any inconvenience you may have experienced as a result of this matter."
I also have the letter from experian stating that the record was incorrect and deleted from my report. On 8/15/06 my mother got a call from True Logic with a reference number. I have not lived with my parents for over 8 years. She called me and gave me the number. When I called them they tried to verify my parents address as my current address, which it isn't, so they requested my current address which I did not release. I assured them I had a letter from a previous debt collector clearing me of this matter.
Before I even faxed it they closed it and sent it to Midland Credit Management. I have not ordered a new credit report yet to see if it's back on there, but I will. I guess my next step is to contact my PA Attorney General. If there's any good advice out there I would really appreciate it.
