I used my Citibank ATM card to withdraw cash at an ATM. The transaction was declined, and I got a report that it was unable to be completed. I was sure there were sufficient funds available in my account. But my statement showed that the transaction had been made and the amount had been debited.
When I logged this complaint with Citibank, the bank took 3 months to investigate, and at last they said they were confirming that the transaction was valid. I asked them for proof. The bank replied that they need an FIR to give me the proof for this transaction. I was out of the country on a business trip, so I had no option to complete this.
While using your ATM card, make sure you have proof of the transaction, especially if your transaction is declined by the ATM.
If there is an electronic failure in the ATM, you also have to bear it, according to the bank's reply.
