In the month of July, I started having large amounts of overdraft charges put on my checking account at Sun Trust. It took more than a month to find out that my account had been hijacked.
Sun Trust informed me on 8/2 that the account had been hijacked, and I closed the account. They refused to give me back the money for the charges, stating that it wasn't their fault and that I was responsible for this problem.
Since the account was closed, they have charged an additional 382.00 in charges, leaving me with no funds to live on and no way to buy food. I had to rely on my family for help.
I ended up in the hospital with a diabetes infection that I was told was life threatening. I still got no help from the bank. My phone calls and emails to the home office of Sun Trust were ignored. I kept calling until they finally answered my call and told me it was my problem, not theirs, and that most likely I could expect more charges to the closed account.
I don't know what else to do. Please, if you have any suggestions, I would appreciate your help. I live on a pension and Social Security.
