Guest's $10,000 burglary loss refused because homeowner was away

I was staying at my aunt's home as a guest. During that time there was a break-in, and $10,000 worth of my property was stolen. The burglary involved only one room and items that belonged to me. Allstate, which insured my aunt, refused to consider the claim because my aunt was not home at the time. The agent on the policy said that the policy was not "supported" because the agent who had issued the policy had retired.

This company is very creative in finding ways not to pay. The agent himself said that insurance policies are subject to interpretation. Allstate is definitely not "the good hands people."
