Following Hurricane Ivan, Allstate's adjuster told me my house was "just settling" in attempting to not pay my claim. I am now on my 16th adjuster. The rep from the FL Insurance Commissioner's office said Allstate lied about what they had to pay & also documented the bogus phone numbers Allstate gave me. This Rep also said Allstate was operating in bad faith by allowing about $0.37 on the dollar for the cost of repairs. It took almost all my savings & 2 years to repair my house. Parts are still not repaired. I still have been uable to collect from Allstate.
At least 15 contractors refused to even deal with me when they found out I had Allstate citing Allstate's refusal to pay realistic prices for repairs. (To rip out & repair the guest bathroom - part of Allstate's scope, the ballpark price from 4 contractors was $1200. Allstate allowed $360.) They cancelled 95,000 policies in FL & then jacked their rates up well over 125%. This is why it only took a matter of weeks for 4 other states to sue Allstate after Katrina & Rita. Ironically, my insurance agent lost her house after Allstate refused to pay her claim. Many Ivan survivors Still have not collected from Allstate. NEVER make the mistake of believing you are in good hands with the lying theives from Allstate.
