I got this credit card in my second year of school. When my parents moved, I got a bill that was sent to them, and they forwarded it to me. I filled out the form on the back to change the address. Apparently, this was not sufficient for them, because I did not get a bill for four months. During those four months, I sent them two more letters with the address where the bill should be sent, which did nothing to help the problem.
I sent checks to Citi Cards so that my account would not go into default, but lo and behold, it takes them a week and a half to get a check, so of course my account went into default. Over that span, I sent them nearly $300. They jacked my rate up to 27.99 percent, so all that money did not even cover the interest and the late fees that had accumulated. I have recently found out that this interest rate may be illegal in the state where I live, so I am checking into that with the help of an attorney. I wrote a check on the morning of the 3rd and sent it that same day, and it did not get entered until the 11th. That is eight days, when the back of my bill, which I now finally get, says 5-7 days. Something is wrong with that picture.
When I called to see why my rate was so high, I could not get an answer from anyone. The manager was very short and rude when I asked him any questions. He would only say things starting with, "The bottom line is..." That is not how businesses should treat their customers.
I had cut up the card and recently closed the account, and now I am unable to pay my bill online because of it. It would be much easier for them and for me.
The company as a whole is very unorganized and ruthless when it comes to being customer friendly. Their customer service representatives and managers are very uneducated and are unable to help me any time I call them with any problem or questions.
