Chase Credit Card
Held onto payment until it was late, then charges 30% interest Ripoff

I had a bp card from chase, (merged from bank one from associates natl bank) Missed one payment in jan 07 my credit union says it was rec by chase on jan 16 at 3pm... Chase said it was the next day. But chase own policy says that it must be rec by 4pm, yet they reported it the next day, took away my long standing fixed 3.99 rate and brought it to 29.99% I called they were rude and even suggested I close the acct. My credit is 739!! Was a cust for 15 years, and NEVER defaulted on anything. I paid it with a bal trans from citibank. Left it open for the time being. Then in May I forgot to pay my Chase Freedom card, and I got calls saying I forgot. I right away paid over the phone (3 days late) and asked the rep if they would take away my 0% for one year promo, she said, she didnt think so and that was that. So I check online after a few days and my rate is 29.99 percent.interestingly there is no notice anywhere about higher rates. I forgot my citicard as well, and They actually had a big printed statement on the SAME page of my statement that they CHANGED TO THE DEFAULT RATE. For citi it was 26.00%. Citi even called me to tell me, AND if I paid the citi card right now, they would change back to my non promo rate (the existing rate on my card) 14. XX% if I paid right then, I did. Then I asked citi if I could transfer from chase to citi, and guess what, the rep transfers me to a rate specialist, and guess what citi did? They said if I transfer 2780.00 from chase right now, they would give me 1 year at 5.99% fixed, take my non default rate of 14.% and take that down to 9.99 fixed and wave the bal transfer fee. So clearly its NOT me, its NOT the credit card industry, ITS CHASE!!! While I was on the phone with chase, AFTER I had just closed the account, I asked if I could change my mind and reopen it. They DID NOT TRANSFER ME, they put me on HOLD. GUESS WHAT, after about 30 seconds, they said sorry, the credit dept told me your not reliable and cannot reopen the account. I said to the rep that I had a 739 credit score and not even one late payment mark on my credit report. That I was NEVER reported by anyone for a late payment, and I had just checked at freecreditreport.com The rep acted nervous and said, he didnt say I was not reliable they did. (referring to the credit dept) I bet you $ that he NEVER asked the credit dept anything... What a joke. Something fishy is going on at chase. I wonder if its another Enron and that they have to try and hide how bad it really is. Its sad.
