Knowing I had good credit I applied for a car loan at my local bank. I was shown my credit report and was shocked to find negative information provided by Citi cards. It was posted just a couple of weeks ago.
I do not have a citi bank card. I have not co-signed for a card for anyone ever. I have never had any banking relationship with citi bank or citi cards. I have lived at the same address for 22 years and have not received anything in the mail from them. I do not and never will have any signed consumer agreement with them. I have had nothing to do with them, yet they somehow think they have the right to file false and fraudulent information on my credit report. Where did they get my social security number and when?
This was for an $80 debt that was 60 days late. (which shows paid?) How could I owe it if I never had a card or knowledge of it? I asked my family members if any of this may be a mistake and it was directed to me instead of them and the answer was no. No possible way. It's not my job to track down the screw up by citi cards.
Yet citi cards tells me they have to look into it and it might take months to resolve. I have already filed a FTC complaint, my next step is with the attorney general of Illinois.in the mean time I have a financial loss due to a damaged credit rating and higher interest rate.
Citi cards is a fraudulent and misleading company who mishandles credit information. They have failed to communicate with me the possibility of a debt that I could contest. Again I do not and will never have a card with citi cards and they are reckless abusive company.
