In our Sunday newspaper we received a Direct TV advertising insert. The insert listed "5 Myths Busted". As a Direct TV subscriber in this area their advertisement was not completely truthful. The following are the "5 Myths Busted with a customer's feedback on their assessment. "My signal will go out in bad weather.' They say wrong. I say yes and the bad part is the first signal to go is the satellite signal carrying the local channels. So when you need the local channels the most to track bad weather, the signals are not available due to signal loss. "It's too difficult to install." They say no. That is true they provide "free" installation. However, nothing is free - when I tried to terminate service I was told I would have to pay $400.00 because of the contract I agreed to. "DISH network and cable have just as many channels in HD as Direct TV. They say not even close. I can't comment on the numbers but based on my experience with COMCAST, ask how many are included in the $9.00 monthly HD fee and how many require additional fees monthly! I can't get local channels with Direct TV. They say, "yes you can." I say they are the first to go during poor weather. When you need the local channels the most you can't get them. To make sure you can track poor weather warning information you need to get a local antenna to receive the channels during bad weather. When you call and complain and try to cancel the service due to the situations above you will be told how much YOU OWE Direct TV to cancel your service. I tried, it would cost $400.00 needless to say - I'm stuck with Direct TV and will have to set-up for local reception and the satellite feed. I'm counting the days until I can cancel!!
