Dish customer service simply awful - DISH NETWORK

I have been a DISH customer for 15 years. I chose to disconnect DISH when I committed to a project which would keep me away from home for some months.

The rudeness of the service representative was amazing. I had to go through multiple customer service reps (all quite polite, and offering me special deals over and over, and indicating I would have to call another number to disconnect) - when i finally was able to convince them I wanted to disconnect, the new service agent was appalling. I wanted to disconnect the following month, but she said i couldn't. I would have to call back AGAIN. So I asked to disconnect this month - and then asked for my customer agreement - ie my lease agreement re: equipment - but she wouldn't help me because she said I was no longer a customer since I had requested to disconnect - just like that. She said there was no lease agreement that i could see but that there was a lease that I had agreed to. How is that possible? I asked for my paper work - but she indicated i was no longer a customer because i had requested future disconnection (in spite of the fact I am paid ahead for well over a month).

I contacted the State Attorney Generals office. I found out there was litigation against dish in the recent past for not clearly disclosing charges to customers (that's a very broad paraphrase, check website for exact wording of actions) some of it centered around disconnection. I am going to contact dish again, and request my signed customer contract (dish scheduled the installation many years ago).

I wouldn't be so very angry if the rep wasn't so incredibly rude when I requested to disconnect. And would not allow me access to my paperwork because i had requested disconnection. I plan to pursue this until it is resolved. They will also need to refund my over-payment (I am paid ahead one month). What makes a company think being rude and making things as difficult and unpleasant as possible will engender any kind of loyalty? It has to be intentional, since I have read about it all across the internet. It is shocking to me.
