Wyndham Hotel Resort Palace
Rip-off! Waste of money, poor customer service!

Our hotel stay was TERRIBLE! Never ever stay at a Wyndham resort. I plan to write a complaint letter about the following issues:

1. When we arrived we had to wait almost 20 minutes to check in. We asked for adjoining rooms and did not receive them. They refused to take our credit card for our room because they did not believe me that I was an authorized signer on the card and would not call the bank to verify.

2. When I went down to ask about getting an internet connection for my room, guest services didn't even know where to tell me to go. Then when I waited in line at the front desk for another 15 minutes, the girl didn't even have a clue. She was totally rude as well.

3. I became a Wyndham by Request Member and did not receive my welcome gift, or any sort of special treatment.

4. The front desk didn't know what a contact lens case was, or where to find one. They did not even try to help.

5. We went to a dinner meeting the first night we were there. They were short about 250 tables and chairs by my estimate. People had to eat sitting on the floor or standing with no table.

6. When we arrived at the Outback restaurant late Wednesday, the hostess seemed annoyed by our presence, and we almost left because we felt so unwelcome.

7. The maid didn't refill the sugar packets for the coffee machine at all during our stay.

8. The noise level of the hotel was almost unbearable. I heard loud talking in the hall at 2 AM, 3 AM, and 4 AM. Then again in the early morning at 6 AM and 7 AM. I realize it may be difficult for the hotel to control the noise level of their guests, however, several of those times I was awakened by the sound of the room service or housekeeping staff using their radios at very high volumes. At other hotels staff uses headsets so the noise doesn't disturb the guests.

9. The check out time of 11 AM is an inconvenience to hotel guests, especially those from a Pacific time zone. For us, that is like having to leave at 8 AM.

10. When we went to check out, there was no space available to leave our bags. Of course I can't lug full size suitcase around Disney World, so I asked for the manager. I had to wait about 15 minutes for this privilege. All of the sudden there was magically a place for the luggage.

11. When I told the manager I had an unpleasant stay, he didn't seem to care, nor did ask why.

12. The manager told us to pick up our bags at the front desk when we came back. He also told us we didn't need to reserve a taxi in advance. When we got back and waited in line for almost 20 minutes again (and the front desk person let a lady go in front of us because she supposedly had been down before), they told us our luggage was not there. Nope, we had to go somewhere else. Oh, we had to wait for a taxi too.

13. I was confused as to why water cost less at Disney World than the hotel. Additionally, it's ridiculous to charge $2.75 for a fountain drink at the snack bar. I am sure it costs the hotel about fifteen cents.

My situation could have been a lot worse. I heard that the hotel was overbooked, so I hope that none of the attendees were turned away. Additionally I heard that there were several billing errors made, and that getting them fixed was a enormous hassle. Just what you need when you are trying to check out and get on a plane on time, right?

There are a couple of nice things I can say about the trip. The valet staff was really nice and helpful. All the staff at Disney World were very accommodating and beyond helpful. Every interaction I had with a Disney employee was not only pleasant, but impressive.

I would never recommend a Wyndham hotel to anyone, not even my worst enemy. I wouldn't want them to get the revenue. I would only recommend Orlando to a person that doesn't mind waiting in lots of lines, or paying tons of money to go places.in other words, if you like to throw money away try Disney. But if you really like to throw money away, send it to me in an envelope, and I will put it to good use.
