I have used Orbitz in the past and have been generally happy with them, but now I discovered their dark-side! I recently made reservations to fly into Springfield, Missouri for a healing conference as I have cancer. Yesterday, I received my credit card bill and I was charged for two tickets to fly there for the same day and at almost the exact same times give or take one or two minutes and there is a difference in price of one penny. This did not make sense as I had only looked one time and made one reservation.
I called Orbitz and they insisted that I made two reservations. Since I am only one person I asked for a refund for one of the flights as I can't really be in two planes at one time—can I? I was told I could not do that as the flights were nonrefundable.
They were adament. There was no wiggle room. Even though they could not prove to me that I had made two reservations or that their system did not make an error, I had to cancel one of the reservations and use the money at a later date for another flight within a year. I will have to pay an extra $30 to Orbitz and another $100 to the airline when this takes place.
Needless to say I will never use Orbitz again nor will I recomment them to another person as I have done numerous times. Even if I had hit something and accidentally made two flight reservations which I did not do, they should have a system in place to help someone out in that case. It seems to make more sense to go with a travel agency from now on as they wouldn't make this kind of mistake and they do have access to all the same information that Orbitz has.
I am disappointed and sad about this.in the meantime, I have done some great searches and found other folks who have had similar problems with Orbitz. I am in the process of creating a website called: "Out of Orbitz!" It will be great. Thanks for listening and BEWARE OF ORBITZ.com. They are the nastiest piece of rip-off machinery on the internet!
