On the 3rd of Feb, I had a phone conversation with the most amazing Amtrak employee. Denver was slowed by a snow storm and she set me up with a ticket for the same price on the next day. She sounded like she was having a rough day which I would relate to delays and angry customers. I thanked her greatly and appreciated her help very much.
On the 4th, I arrived at the Denver Amtrak station early so i could confirm my ticket. When I arrived there was a woman behind the window yelling at a customer. Not knowing the situation, I brushed it off until the man next to her started instigating the argument further. As the customer was fed up and walking away, he leaned out of his window and said "get a clue" and proceeded to argue with the customer. The customer brushed it off and said "I'm not trying to argue, can I use your restroom." The man yelled out the window at him, "no, you're not allowed to use the restroom here. I'll have you removed from this place! Sit down or get out!"
The customer walked to the restroom and it appeared to be over. I was next in line and stepped up to the window where upon the woman stared at me and sternly proclaimed, "i am busy, go sit down!" I said, "Ma'am, I am just seeing if I am at the correct station" and showed my reservations. She leaned out of her chair and pointed while saying, "sit down!" I shook my head and walked away while she proceeded to instigate an argument about me shaking my head. I kept walking and went outside.
When I exited the building, the male employee was spreading salt outside. I walked up to him and said, "excuse me sir, is this the correct station." He glanced over and proclaimed, "well, duh." I smiled and thanked him where he started mumbling nothingness.
I walked back inside and the woman behind the counter was being exceptionally rude to an older woman who was asking if the train was delayed. Seeing this was the apparrent standard at this station I accepted the rude comments as being an example of how Amtrak Denver treats their customers. Next time I will fly to my destination.
