Please whateveryou do consider another way to travel!
We decided to take an amtrak from dallas tx to san antonio tx.
To start with we arrived at the station in dallas at 10 in the morning. Our train was supposed to be there at 11 it finally arrived at 5 that afternoon. This is not a place you want to sit for
6 hrs. There are homeless people constantly begging you for money. I did not feel very safe at all, the bathrooms were dirty and the only place cool was in the station which had maybe 20 seats all of which were taken. It was very hot and they offered us nothing for the train being late, anyways at 5 we finally got on our train Lots of screaming kids so we took it on ourselves to move. The seats were very hard and you could not rest at all.
The air worked about half the time and the train was constantly pulling over to let union pacific through (those of you who do not know amtrak shares u. P tracks and has to stop and let them by)
It took a 4 hr trip 8 hrs and as i said they never even offered us anything! The highlight to our trip was we had to ride a bus back to dallas and it was a whole lot faster than amtrak. When we called amtrak customer service all they offered us was a
ticket for free travel (only 1 way) Yeah like i was going to get into that nightmare again. If your considering amtrak don't!!
