On the same day that I booked a reservation on the Marriott.com website for the JW Marriott in San Francisco for $179 with a $25 credit, for a net price of $154, Priceline.com promoted a rate of $219 for the same date. The Priceline advertised price was 43% higher than the price available directly from the hotel website. I called Priceline and their representative offered to match the price on the spot. I complained that they should just lower the price on their website, and hung up. Priceline is a company with a bad reputation and this confirms that impression, in my opinion. Priceline should advertise that they offer the opportunity to pay 42% MORE for the same room. Only fools would do business with such an outfit.
