Company will not allow cancelations, contrary to their TOS

Me and my buddy were going to go to Georgia in march. I made reservations for march 13th-14th at a ramada location in georgia through www.ramada.com. Well needless to say, my buddies sister was pregnant and she started having trouble with her baby and had to be rushed to the hospital, we were left to babysit her daughter.

I called ramada immediately and they said that there was no possible way to cancel the reservation as it was a pre payed reservation, I explained that there is no possible way that it was pre payed because my credit card has not even been charged yet.

They said that it told me that the reservation could not be cancelled (it said no such thing, and I even offered to show them a screenshot) I talked to the manager who was extremely rude and told me to stop calling as there was nothing that they could do.

I looked at their TOS (terms of service) and it said that PRE-PAYED reservations would be charged immediately. All other forms of reservations will be charged the day of check out. My credit card was not charged for another 3 weeks after I tried to cancel (the day I was supposed to check out) I contacted my credit card company (who I cannot thank enough) because they removed the charges.

But I cannot stress enough how EVERYONE should take there reservation needs ELSEWHERE.
