Uk. Hotels.com I was Triple charged rate in Paris France. A barely english person answered the UK phone charge 10p/min on the phone

I was in London England and was pushed to the uk. Hotels.com site to book a room in Paris. Annoying because the rates in pounds appeared to be more expensive than in dollars. I tried it from the american side of things.

First my fault my laptop died just as I booked a hotel. The phone number on the UK site says it charges 10p (18 cents) per minute to call them. SO I call them on my american phone and WAIT on hold for about 5 minutes, great. Then a woman comes on the phone who can barely speak english, does not understand the complete idea and asks for my card and name to look it up.

She then finds the reservation I am staying on, (another story, do not trust the hotel saying they have internet, THEY were charging me $6.00 per hour to go through this ordeal). She fails to find the reservation that I thought might have gone through. I ask to speak to someone who can speak english, she understands that. She says that there are only two of them working and the other is busy. I give my phone number, no call back. I call and am on hold for 10 minutes, at 18cents a minute!

Finally I go buy another voucher (Days Hotel Waterloo Station London) for $7. I book another hotel, it says it sends email. I go look at e-mail and... BOTH reservations are there. The rep at hotels.com missed it! So now I have TWO reservations for $1500 each, OH my god. I cannot reach anyone, I email and send cancellation notice. This finally sends me an email that says it was cancelled.

SO now we get to the hotel Trinity Plaza in paris. MMmmm not as nice as advertised, 3 stars is stretchin it. We had to lug our vast amount of american luggage up the stairs to the desk. Remember we just paid over $300 american dollars for this room per night.

In the room I look on the door of the room and the MAXIMUM rate they can charge is 118.00Euro and I was charged $268.00 Euro! OH MY GOD. More than double the rate. I ask the front desk guy and he says he has never charged a rate like that for these rooms. I try to call hotels.com at the (*) (*&%&^ phone number and... Well those numbers don't work here. I have e-mailed and ask for refund with no answer. I would love to call and scream BUT it will cost $1.00 per minute and I cannot figure out how to call the freaking number.

Hotels.com/Expedia.com seem to routinely charging MORE than the hotel charges. PLUS they take all the money up front. It is difficult to get your money back if you don't like the place. I would recomend calling the hotel directly if you want to book. This seems especially true in Paris here.
