I fell for it hook-line-and sinker. I was getting ready to feed my infant daughter and wanted to rush the lady off the phone without being rude. So, I accepted the trial offer. I figured as soon as I got the material in the mail I'd send it back and be done with it.
As soon as I got the information in the mail I did as I was instructed. I sent back the confirmation card. Done. Then a few days later I received an invitation to use Teliflex. I didn't need that so I did what the paper said, I called.
Of course I couldn't reach a live person so I did as the automated system stated. I pressed "1" to deactivate the trial offer. The system stated that it had been received. Phew! Done.
Then I received my bank statement. I had been charged for Agents Travel Network AND Teliflex. I immediately called both companies. I was determined to talk to a live person.
I got one. I called Agents Travel first. She of course stated they had never received my cancellation. So I told her what I did and when I had done it. She gave me a cancellation number and stated that a check would be mailed to me.
On to Teliflex. I called and got an operator. He asked if I had a confirmation number. Um, no your automated system doesn't give one out. He then states that I need to write a letter of cancellation with the cancellation number he is going to give me and then a check would be mailed to me.
Great, I've sent both letters out and we'll see what happens. Of course I then jumped on the internet to file a complaint with the BBB. Imagine my "un"surprise when I find that they have several complaints on them. Well add 1 more because here comes mine!
I'm hoping that this doesn't have to go further to get my money back. Thankfully, we had a cushion in the bank already and only 2 checks bounced with minimal fees incurred. I feel sorry for those that aren't so lucky.
Please do not do any trial offers over the phone. You'll get burned.
