Beware when using priceline express deal! On Priceline website, they are putting the sample of hotels with their related star. For 2 stars it is said to be similar to Comfort Inn, Best Western, Holiday Inn, La Quinta, etc. For 1 star they are similar to Rodeway Inn, Econolodge, Motel 8, Red Roof Inn.
I booked a 2 star hotel, and got a SURF MOTEL that is similar to 1 star. When I called the customer service, (Juan is the customer relation from Priceline that talked to me), he said that from independent website such as Travelocity, or Tripadvisor, Surf Motel is 2 star. When I check, yes it is, but so are Rodeway Inn, Econolodge & Motel 8!! While the hotels listed on Priceline website as 2 stars receive 2.5-3 stars on Travelocity or Tripadvisor. The hotel that we book might not be the ones listed but IT SHOULD BE SIMILAR TO/SAME LEVEL AS THOSE LISTED ON THE WEBSITE.
Looking at the picture of the building of Surf Motel, anyone would identify it to be similar to Rodeway Inn, Econolodge rather than Comfort Inn, Best Western, Holiday Inn. The room & bed for 2 star hotel, even though not luxurious, should be good enough (see the reviews for Surf Motel and you will know that it isn't). The breakfast for Comfort Inn, Best Western, Holiday Inn are not cold pastry in a plastic wrap and without coffee like what they serve in Surf Motel. These are just to name a few differences.
I understand the rule of the game for booking in Priceline, but business SHOULD BE FAIR AND NOT DECEIVING. Beware beware beware especially when express deal shows you a hotel without guest rating. These are the dishonest game that priceline play. For Priceline customer service, if you are fair enough to straighten it out, please contact me.
