On Novemeber 11th, I was called about a offer I was eligible for. I had entered a draw through the Vancouver Health Show. They went through the speel of how I was choosen within a certain demographice etc. I assumed it was legitimite. I guess technically they are, but they are a shady company. I was pursued into buying the $698 package.
After I was off the phone, I went online and found rip off reports. I immediately began to panic. I called the CC company and my card had already been charged. I called the 1-800 number the very next morning (within 12 hours). I was put through to a lady at head office. I DID NOT mention RIP-OFF-REPORT and the info I found whatsoever! I told her that I got news that my father passed away (a LIE) and that I needed to cancel the package, cause I now need that money for airfair. She was actually really nice and was sympathetic.
She NEVER once said I could not cancel (which was a relief). But she did try to sell me a $298 package instead, and also said that I would be charged a penalty for cancelling. She started saying that I would still have to pay $150 for a promo fee. I kept talking and said I didn't understand, and she went and talked to her "supervisor" and came back with $87. She said that was the best she could do. So, I took the offer. I would rather be out $87, then cause more of a scene and risk not getting ANYTHING back.
The whole exchange was quite pleasant. I tried to get a conformation number, but she said it was not necessary. I've been sweating bullets, and today (5 business days later) I was refunded $611 as promised. I immediately called my CC company to cancel my card and have the # changed. I don't feel comfortable with them having it on file. So, while I didn't get it ALL back, I am VERY happy with what happened. I think calling within 24 hours is what got my money back. Mind you, I would never deal with them again, but I feel I didn't really have to pull teeth to get it back, but of course having seen this site, it made me paranoid. Good Luck to the rest of you...
