Ramada Plaza Resorts
Misleading vacation ripoff

I received something saying I am entitled to a $1600 vacation package but I have to call within 48 hours to be eligible. I called just to see what this was about and I spoke to Laura Neu ID # 6616. She spent awhile explaining this wonderful vacation package they were giving me plus many extras. I told her I was interested and I would call back once I talked to my boyfriend about it. She said sorry but this is a one time offer and if I hang up now I can't get the deal. I said ok well sign me up (thinking it was free, what is there to lose?) Then she asked for my credit card info and I told her I wouldn't give it to her. She transferred me to her supervisor, Paul Brady, 727-533-8349 extension 813. He told me that he only needed my credit card info to reserve the vacation and that my card wouldn't be charged until I decided when I wanted to go on the vacation. Still apprehensive, I asked what would happen if I decided to cancel completely. He said I would receive a refund in full if I decided to cancel within 30 days, which made me question him again because he just said my card wouldn't be charged. He said that I had 30 days to provide him with a different card or cancel before the charge would go through. He also said that Ramada would never take or keep my money if I didn't want them to and that they are a huge company with a good reputation they would never damage. I gave in and stupidly gave him all my credit card info after being promised no charges would go on my card yet. He told me that he was going to give me a bunch of extras including a $250 shopping spree for anything on the internet. I was then transferred to their "verbal receipt department" the lady had a very thick accent and spoke too fast to understand. She repeated the vacation itinerary to me and I tried to listen. At the very end she said ok do you understand everything I have just said, and I said yes. She then said ok we will be charging $698 to your visa I hope you have a great vacation, bye, and hung up before I could say No! I don't agree to that charge. Thinking, oh well I am spending $700 on a wonderful 8 day vacation thats worth $3000 from what they told me I went on the internet to look at pictures of the hotel and the cruise ship. The first 3 websites that come up were all about how Ramada Plaza Resorts is a totally rip-off scam. I read some of the reports and it sounded just like what I went through. Everyone said that the vacation package they send you isn't what you get. The hotel is crap, the cruise is crap, and they had to pay for tons of extras they weren't told about. I decided that I wanted to get out and everything said that they wouldn't give refunds like promised. So i called Wells Fargo (my credit card company) and told the customer service rep that I just did something terribly stupid and could they please help me get out of this fraudulent mess. He said the Ramada Plaza Resort charge of $698 had already showed up and that he will cancel my card and report this as a fraudulent charge so I won't have to pay for this. I think this was the best way to get out of their scam because all the reports I read said it was impossible to get a refund except one guy who knew a lot about the law and included the exact laws they were breaking. The letter looked like it was written by a very educated lawyer and I know there is no way I could have done the same. If you get scammed by Ramada Plaza Resorts, like me, cut them off before they get your money! Also, the online shopping spree - for every $25 you spend you have to pay about $5 for 'processing and delivery'. The items to choose from were all over-priced junk that I wouldn't even want for free let alone having to pay 20% for.
