We have just returned from Xmas in Sicily. We spent 3 weeks at Villa Ida. What a wonderful experience! The Villa is tucked away on a quiet side street just 3 -5 minutes walk from Corsa Umberto, the main pedrestianised shopping street. The little front gate leads to a small garden with orange and lemon trees. I did not see a prettier house in the whole of the town. The owner, Davide, was available and helpful every step of the way from the first inquiry to the return of the deposit. He gave us the name of a wonderful taxi driver who picked us up at Catania Airport and brought us stright to the front door. Salvatore's English is good and havng been born in Sicily he was a wonderful tour guide. We used him for several trips around the island. A lady called Antonella was there to greet us and show us around the house. She later cleaned he house and changed the linen once a week) There was everything we could posssibly need provided from toilet rolls, shampoo, cooking foil, coffee, tea biscuits etc. The weather is a bit cold in winter but the place is quiet and free from the hoardes of visitors who descend on the little town in summer. I recommend Villa Ida without reservation of hesitation to anyone wanting a holiday in Sicily. Anne Lomax, South Africa, Jan
