I have a Verizon phone from living in Montana. They are one of the few cell phone providers for the area.in june I moved from Montana to New Jersey, a move that was planned for about 8 months.
At some point verizon went to online statements/billing. I was not getting a bill. I did not have online. I called more than once to get a copy of my bill before paying. It took several months and phone calls to finally get one. I explained that I was not paying the bill until I could actually see it. They have a tendancy to overcharge or wrongfully charge for things. I did not ask for online billing. They turned my phone off. After I finally received the bill, called to pay it and have service reconnected (which they charged me for), the rep I spoke with told me that there was a cheaper plan for me with better coverage.
I of course inquired. She said it was Americas choice, had nationwide coverage instead of the western states that I had. I was very specific in asking if anything was going to change besides the nationwide longdistance and earlier anytime minutes. She said "only that and the cheaper rate".
My contract with Verizon was due to be up Oct. When I called to discontinue the service I was told that I had extended my contract when I changed my service. I explained the situation to no avail. I was transferred to supervisor David at the Salt Lake City location. He so much as called me a liar. They are charging me 175.00 fee to end the contract.
The service has barely been used since I moved to New Jersey as my fiance' and I have a shared minute plan with another carrier since Nov. I had no intention of keeping Verizon outside of Montana.
I explained to him that I asked if there were any changes and was told there were not I was called a liar. I also asked why would I keep paying the bill since June and not use the phone. If I had know that I had extended my contract it would have been much cheaper for me to disconnect in June and just pay the 175.00 fee then.instead, I went a head and honored the contract that I thougt that I had. He informed me that it was my problem and he has no idea why.
I had several billing problems after being put on the Americas choice that I had to take care of with the Kalispell office. Apparently the plan I was offered was only good in select areas and mine was not one of them. Several adjustments were made to my bill due to this information. When I pointed this out to David, he seemed to thing the rep was only capable of making the mistake on the plan coverage. Not the lack of important additional information also, and again accused me of lieing.
Needless to say they are charging me the 175.00 fee for what they say is early out of my contract.
