I purchased a pair of shoes, Women's Jaclyn by Naturalizer, online at Famous Footwear and received it two weeks ago. I wore them but they did not feel as comfortable as I expected them to feel. On the Famous Footwear website, the shoes were advertised as patent leather. However, when i took a look inside of the shoe, they were labeled "All Man Made Material". I called customer service hoping to get some clarification and some sort of consolation, instead I was unpleasantly surprised with the representative"s response. The first representative I spoke with, after acknowledging that the website did advertise the shoe as patent leather, bindicated to me that she really didn't have a clue but that maybe the shoe was labeled "ALL MAN MADE MATERIALS" because the sole maybe manmade but the upper materials were patent leather. When I brought her attention to the fact that I own various pairs of shoes, some of which were purchased at at Famous Footwear, if they were patent leather they werre labeled patent leather and if they were manmade materials, they were labeled manmade material. She then asked me to hold on. A few minutes later she came back to the phone and cited that Wikepedia defines patent leather as any shiny material so she doesn't really know what to tell me. I then asked to speak with a supervisor which took a few more minutes, and I'm still not sure this individual was actually a supervisor because she wasn't anymore knowledgeable. The lady advised me that all patent leather is manmade, and if they sold real patent leather, I would not have paid the price I did, but about $200. WHAT? Wikepedia, manmade materials the same as patent leather are they kidding me. Bait and Switch is what it is. They advertise a shoe as patent leather and sent me a shoe labeled all manmade material. I was rrefused a refund or a replacement because I had worn the shoe before I realized it was not what I intended to purchase. Had the description of the shoe on their website indicated that it was manmade materials, I would not have purchased it. They should not be allowed to advertise a shoe as one thing and sell you something else with no accountability. When a consumer makes a purchase based on the description given by the retailer, there is reasonable cause to believe that is the product the consumer will receive. If the shoe were not real patent leather, they should have been advertised as such. This way they consumer, me, would have made an informed decision when making the purchase. NFamous Foot wear is guilty of bait and switch and of employing clueless staff. I demand justice for my feet.
