I felt compelled to write this review about Apollo Strong Moving company in Arlington and will keep posting this to make sure others do not go experience the same heartache that my wife's parents just went through. It really is very difficult
to have your family calling you crying at 10 at night not knowing what to do because they are being taken advantage of.
Http://www.apollostrongmoving.com is their website and looks pretty professional especially compared to others... Dont let it fool you..
Short of it is the following.
~My wife's parents are in their 60"s with my father in law having lots of health issues.
~Needed to move from Saginaw to Granbury.
~House they moved out of was 2200 ft.
~As far as amount of stuff that needed to be moved it was less than average due to the fact they got rid of half their stuff when I moved them 2 years ago.
~They agreed to get the move down with two 26ft trucks from Apollo Strong Moving company. I moved myself to Colorado last year with twice the amount of stuff my parents have in two 26ft trucks so spacewise it should have been no problem at all.
~ Me and my wife packed up the smaller items in boxes two weeks ago. It did not turn out good at all... It became a complete nightmare.
~ Movers did not show up till noon instead of early morning. Excuse for this from the company is that an employee did not show up (so much for reliable movers they claim to have)
~ They worked real slow (Guy named TJ ran the operation)
~ Did not pack the trucks at all
~ Scratched the hardwood floors and when it was raised they stated that their insurance would not cover it.
~ Because they did not pack the trucks 1/3 of the items ended up being left at the house.
Now think about this a 2200 Ft house, two 26ft trucks (they dont get any bigger), less than average number of items and 1/3 of the items ended up being left at the house. Does not make any sense if you go by the most generous shipping calculators. As you can guess they wanted more money to make yet another trip at a cost of $400.
After my mother in law called me crying I called the office at 11 pm and to their credit they picked up the phone. Lady (forgot her name) could not do anything for me but stated that the driver would call me.in the morning (never heard from him as you guess) The one thing she heard from her driver was that because there were a 100 boxes, things did not fit
which again does not make sense if you some simple math.
~Average medium box is 18X18X16
~Average large box is 18X18X24
~Inside dimensions of a 26 ft truck is 26.5" by 7.8" by 8.3"
So that means you end up with 5 boxes wide, stack those 5 high and you need 4 rows taking 76" of floor space out of the length of the truck which is less than 25 %.
Recounted the boxes this morning and there were 50 boxes.
Of course nobody has contacted me to make this right. I will file a complaint with BBB and web instances like Angie list as
well as post this summary in every review area covering moving in the DFW area so people that are vulnerable do not have to endure Apollo Strong Moving company's business practises. I am not making this up (aka I am not a competitor, just a very ticked off son in law) Do not consider them for your moving needs.
For the owners of Apollo Strong, I hope you have to endure something like this when you are old and vulnerable. You should be ashamed of yourself
