Oh my goodness! This company is absolutely horrible! First, I was given a quote over the phone of $641 for a move from an apartment to a single family home about 4 miles down the road. That was supposedly for three men, travel time of 1 hour and a move of approximately 7 hours, plus a "discount" because the representative really wanted my business.
The movers arrived on time... in a Budget truck, which threw me off a bit as I thought this was a private company with its own trucks as represented on its website. The foreman showed me the contract and told me that IF they had to use their own boxes and tape, there would be additional costs that could drive the estimate up. I agreed, but only because I told him that we had already purchased boxes, which were in the middle of the floor, and that we were still packing up things. We had estimated 7 hours, so I felt that we would be caught up with packing by the time the movers took all the already packed boxes and furniture.
Well, to our surprise, the movers started packing the unpacked items that we told them WE would pack and pretty much refused to take the boxes that were packed already, saying that they needed to go in a particular order and had a "method." Then, to my horror, they started putting already packed boxes into THEIR boxes - to the tune of about $30 per box, quickly running up our bill.
I told them to stop and that if they needed bigger boxes, I would run to Uhaul and purchase some while they moved furniture in the meanwhile. They didn't want to do that. I called the company and Malika, the representative, told me to try to work it out and to not let things get contentious. I tried to explain that all I wanted was for the movers to do what I TOLD them to do, and not continue to pack for us. I told her that if we didn't get everything out, that was fine, but we needed the furniture and heavy things out, at least, because we couldn't move those ourselves.
Well, the foreman was unyielding. He refused to pack as I asked him to; wanted to continue to use their boxes and told me that the move would be at least $1,200. OR, he said, we can take what we've put on the truck so far and bring it back into the house. I wanted to work it out, but after a few minutes of back and forth, I could see that it was futile, so I had them unload.
Much to my horror, we opened one of the boxes that had gone onto the truck and found inside... Wait for it... MY PURSE!!! With the money I had withdrawn to pay them! I would have had NO idea where it was at the end of the move anyway, so it was a good thing I told them to stop when I did.
Don't use this company. They are full of sh*t.
