I made an online reservation on 06/20 to get a 17" truck to move on 06/25. I even paid the $5.00 non-refundable fee which was supposed to guarantee that I get a truck. The confirmation I received via email said that someone would contact me within 24 hours to schedule the exact pickup spot, even though I put the order in for the store that was less then 5 minutes from where I was moving from. When no one had called me by Friday the 24th I called the customer service and was told that someone would call me by 5:00 P.M. That night. Since I was going on the gambling cruise that night I called them back at 5:15 and explained that I was not going to be available to get calls and needed to know about the truck. They confirmed that I would pick it up at a Mobile Station about 8 miles up the road (not the 2 around the corner).
I though I was all set but I was in for a rude awakeing. And the worse part was that I didn't have a choice about what day to move. The friends that I was staying with and storing all my stuff at were being evicted and I was afraid that someone was going to lock my stuff in the house. They had already moved most of their stuff out.
When I got up that morning I called the Mobil station but couldn't get anyone to answer the phone. I called Uhaul and after about a 20 minute hold they gave me another number. I called the station but it seemed they didn't have any trucks. So another phone call to Uhaul and another 25 minute wait on hold. Explain the situation get put on hold again and then they come back on and tell me that whoever borrowed the truck didn't return them. So why would the schedule me to pick up a truck where there's no trucks. So what am I supposed to do. Where can I get a truck. Well there are no trucks available. Even though I scheduled for a truck. I was so angry at this point. Then they tell me that the ONLY truck available is a 28' truck but I would now have to go pick it up 15 miles from where I'm moving from and another 10 miles to where I'm moving to. Of course at this point I'm freaking out because now what am I going to do. I started calling them at 7:00 A.M. And didn't get done between the back and forth till 9:00 A.M. I was on the phone on hold so much with them that my husbands battery died on his cell phone.
I ended up moving a whole house full of furniture in a friends trailer. We had to make 3 trips and load up 5 five back and forth with boxes.
By the way I did use them when I moved my stuff into the house. And I should have known better because that truck we found out after we packed everything into it and got to our destination that it had a big whole in the deck roof because all my stuff came out saturated and the brakes barely worked. When I complained to the guy he took off the $19.95 WOOPEE. I must have been a glutton for punishment for thinking of using them again. It must be their cheap price that makes me stupid.
