I had a similar experience to others who posted on this site with a false person going by the name of "Richard Martins." While looking for rental properties, I was contacted by a "Louis Dixon" about a rental that seemed too good to be true. $700, which included utilities, for a 3 bedroom house in a beautiful neighborhood. He said he was a Programmer and was relocating to Michigan with his "lovely wife Angie, " who was a member of some false ministry group, and his 12 year old daughter "Kayla." They were looking for someone to lease their home, which they originally put up for sale but wanted to return to in 4-5 years. He told me, "God has lead me to a wonderful family like yours" to rent out their house, even though I had specified that it was just me (no family). He had this simple "application" for me to fill out and that he would FedEx me a key to the house once I filled it out. He didn't ask for any money at first, not until after a few interactions with him. Once he started talking about sending him a $500 security deposit, I drew the line.
My gut told me to investigate, so I checked out the house and found it listed with Keller Williams Realty Group. I looked up the phone number he provided and it turned out to be a landline in Topeka, KS. There was also no record of a "Louis Dixon" on the government website for Johnson County. Everything was pointing toward something fishy.
Then I found a report on this website with an eerily similar story but under the name "Richard Martins." So, I just had to write in with my experience to try to prevent anyone else from being scammed by this disgusting person. I sincerely hope this helps someone not lose any money to "Louis" and his "beautiful family."
