Richard Martins posted a single-family home for rent. After my initial inquiry about the property, he responded immediately with information about himself, his family and his current situation. He made claims of having to relocate to Green, KS for work with his "beautiful wife and daughter".
He seemed nice, but somewhat desperate and overly eager to accept me as his new tenant. Unfortunately, I ignored my instinct on this and continued to fill out his online application. The questions he asked seemed harmless enough - mostly just contact information.
It wasn't until AFTER that email that the scam became apparent. I asked to see the property and he replied that I would have to Western Union him a $500 downpayment first, then he would send me the key for the property. I responded that I would not send a payment without seeing the property first.
Fortunately, I didn't lose any money but, I just hate the fact that he was TRYING to scam me.
I should have checked first, because there are 3 other consumer complaints for Richard Martins.
