I posted a message on LinkedIn asking people if they have ever worked with a Fitness business coach and if so who because I was in search of one for my new business. This guy Tom Perkins sent a private message stating that he no longer mentors but he believes in giving back and helping people and if i ever wanted to just talk to him and brainstorm he would be willing to do so "at no charge, so we set up a time to talk on the phone. Very good first conversation and I thought we had a good connection, he then stated that he would be willing to coach me and he would send over a proposal, I asked him about a statement he made earlier about no longer coaching and he stated he only coaches certain people and he would be honored to coach me, I advised him that I was stilling looking at other options and he said as I should and that if i needed anything feel free to call or email. A few days later i got a proposal that stated he would charge me $600.00 a month for coaching (must commit to min. 3 months) and that he had several others that had contacted him for coaching but wanted to give me the opportunity first. I told him $600 was a little high and to go ahead and work with the others that was ready to commit. Because of the connection I though we shared, the "unconditional happiness guarantee" and the knowledge of the industry I thought he had i agreed to start working with him on March 30 we both signed the proposal and I paid him the first installment of $600 via Paypal and we scheduled our first official mentor call on April 2 after that call I realized this was not going to work, the call seemed scattered and unorganized, there was no direction or structure put in place. I sent an email to Tom stated i wanted to end the agreement because of the above reasons and he fought me tooth and nail so I agreed to give it until April 23rd and at that time if I still wasn't happy I expected a full refund based on his agreement and he agreed, after which we had 2 more conversations, he sent me some worthless materials half of which he received from distribution list and told me look through it and see what catches your eye.
Then on April 16 I received an email that stated he was ending our working relationship... No reason given... And that he was crediting my $600.00 towards billable hours and I still owe over $500.00
I kept ALL emails and items sent, Tom Perkins is a scam artist and does not know how to mentor or coach, him main objective is getting whatever money he can from individuals and ALL need to be on the look out!!!
