I canceled my service with T-Mobile in June, after one year of their service. When I called, the lady tried very hard to persue me to stay with them, so I hung up with the decision to call back since I didn't have time to argue and repeat myself with the same story.
I had two phones for me and my husband in order to communicate via family talk as we have a severely handicapped son who needs 24 hrs attention and we both work. When I signed one year contract and got two new motorola v-66 phones, I didn't know that they would be dead in the area where my husband works (although Cingular wireless always had a decent previous service with old Nokias). Moreover, when shopping in the malls, we would not be able to communicate, looking at each other but receiving no reception.
When I called customer service, they said that in some areas they did not have towers (?), and they could not help me. I decided to wait, and then cancel, since I had one year contract, and we would communicate only when my husband was almost near the house, or I would call home from work.
So I canceled the service on July 1, and the lady said that I would be billed partially (never happened-took the whole month of service on the same day from my credit card) and I would receive my last bill for June. At no time she would tell me that somebody called on 6/24 and purchased new phones totalling $743.66 (!!) that was charged on my credit card.
In one month, having a wonderful connection EVERYWHERE from Cingular wireless, I received a call from my Discover card, letting me know that T-Mobile is charging me the above amount. I called T-Mobile, spoke with the supervisor, who told me that some Mark (?) called before I cancelled the service, changed my address, and "upgraded" my service using my phone numbers and my social. She indicated that they would not need to verify anything else from any person (how about my password that even I have difficulty remember?) and that it was probably my fault giving this info to somebody (??) I was outraged telling her that even my husband does not have any access to my account, since it is on my name only and I am not a man by name Mark.
I also told her that this somebody would receive his new $700 phones at some address, which is obviously, not mine-I didn't move anywhere. She said that they have it (!!!), but she can not give it to me. Why wouldn't they check on it? Then she asked me about my husband's name, and I told her it's not Mark, but she insisted (!), so I told her his name-my mistake, because now I think they can use his name as they did with all my private information, because I am pretty sure that whoever did this had a very good access to my t-mobile account (I suspect it could be any customer svc rep).
This supervisor by name Patricia-064227 suggested me to call my credit card (!) without helping me at all. I told her that I would write to headquarters, and I will, because now I have to clear my name due to their fraudulent and dishonest service, where supervisors and the company can't do anything to protect their customers. Now I have to waist my time on this matter they don't care about-I'm not their customer anymore, change my credit card, and wait for the outcome!
I also want somebody from the local channels to get my story, so T-Mobile service would be shown in a different way on the TV - I will bring my cerebral palsy son with me, after all, I needed their service because of him and got ripped off.
