I had a small charge compared to some of these other posts ($8.65) but for a penny-pinching, poor college student and newlywed, that's a lot of money. One my first call to USBI (888-476-8724) I was told they could not give me any information and that was it. I got pissed, and did a little research, coming across this page. After reading, I decided to call them back and be a little stronger.
I spoke with a different girl who explained that they (USBI) is only a call center hired to take calls for this company that makes the charges. She said for MY privacy, she isn't allowed to give out info about the company, and that if I checked my temporary internet files or history on my computer, I should be able to figure it out. I explained to her that I clear those out daily because they are virus-risks to keep them, and that I wasn't going to settle for that answer.
After telling her that I was demanding some sort of information for this company, which I KNOW they have since they do business with them, and that I refused to pay this charge unless I could talk to that company myself, she started to cave. She did admit to having an address for them, but instead just offered to take the charge off. Of course, I let her, but as she was hurrying to hang up, I insisted on getting that address.

So, I did a Google search for this address, and found the following FCC case, posted just two days ago on the fvv. Gov website:

It is for something totally unrelated (not accurately disclosing who they are when people call them), but it still shows that they are a dishonest company.

Be persistent!
Insist of contact info for the company, you KNOW they have it if they are doing business for them.
DON'T let them talk you in circles - pick your point and stick to it, no matter what.
DO REPORT THEM! Better Business Bureau, local police stations, the FCC, contact EVERYONE you can about them!
A year and a half ago, I was scammed by an eBay user for $400. With the work of myself and several other eBay members, we eventually made contact with the FBI, who, it turned out, was investigating this person for scams on other internet auction sites. Today, he sits behind bars in a federal prison, where he will be for 2 years, and has been ordered to pay resitution to all of his victims in an amount more than $50,000.
I amy never see that money again, but because of the hard work the other buyers and I put into it, justice was served.
We can't give up!!!
