In January, I switched from Cingular Wireless to T-Mobil. Big Mistake.in Feb. I tried to switch my minutes to meet my needs, I was dating someone out of town and needed a national plan that included more minutes.in March I received a bill for 500.00 and I was told I had used over 500 minutes in 3 days time. They did not change my plan and said it wasn't in effect until the end of the month, interesting since the girl I talked to said it would be back-dated a day from my request. Anyway, I promptly cancelled my service.
The next month I received a bill for approx. 750 dollars.By May, a collection agent called and asked if I was going to pay the bill, I said "no way, I will never pay that bill, your company lied and it's a rip-off", he laughed as if to say he agreed with me and asked if I would consider taking a deal and paying 520.00 and calling it clear. I did, and paid it with my debit card over the phone. I must say that I do not know if I received any documentation of this. I know if I need it, that it is on my bank statement.
Anyway, I resigned up with Cingular wireless, and have been pleased with them. Jump forward to the end of February. I receive a letter from a scum bag "law-firm" called Valentine & Kebartas, Inc.in which the letter said they are collecting a debt for T-Mobil of $218.83. I phoned the law agency the minute I opened the letter and she said I needed to fax her the documentation that the bill was paid by Monday or it would go on my credit report directly. I had told Melissa at Valentine and Kebartas that I had delivered papers for a year and a half to clear up my credit and was no planning on purchasing my first home and could definitely not have this on my credit report!!! She offered to make another deal with me for $175.00 "we would consider this matter cleared". Was she nuts??? Hell no, I will never make another deal with these scums! I told her I would call T-Mobil and get them to straighten it out, she acted like, they won't help you. She was right. I spoke to a credit manager and explained everything to them. They pretty much acted like they could are less, and said they didn't own the account anymore.
I have no idea what to do now. I refuse to pay these people. I feel totally powerless against them and know they are going to hurt my chances of buying a home. I work a full time job plus get up at 1:30 A.M. Seven days a week to deliver newspapers for a year and a half to buy a home and these scum bags will ruin it for me. I would like to report them to the FTC and to the Bar Association in their state. Please tell me what I can do? I hate that these people are getting away with this. I also have no repect for Catherine Zeta Jones for representing a horrible company such as T-Mobil!
