I went to the store on 6/17, to return a tropical plant. The store manager, James Brown, refused the return, saying that tropicals are not returnable. I asked him where in the store does it say that, and he admitted that there isn't any sign. He then pointed to a line in the return policy, "The Home Depot reserves the right to limit or refuse to accept the return of merchandise at any time and for any reason." I asked him, when he applies that line, what was the reason? He replied, that the line in the policy was the reason, so essentially, he refused my return at his will, without any reason. I think this is deceptive business practice. The store is selling things with the impression that they are returnable, but refuses to honer the return policy.
I also suspect racial discrimination, because I do not believe the store never accepted return of tropicals, and the manager just singled me out, possibly because I am Asian.
