Awful customer service

I have been to this store a couple of times to exchange a product. A product that happens to have a "life time warranty".

I save my receipts after purchase because of the fact that I use this product at work on a daily basis. After a while, it gets into bad shape from the wear and tear and eventually breaks.

The first time I went into the store, I brought in two of the same product. I told the lady at the checkout that I wanted to exchange the products. I explained to her that I had purchased them there and that I had a receipt.

She was not sure what to do and said she needed to ask one of the sales associates. Maybe he'd know what to do. Right...
We went to him and explained everything. He then decided that he needed to find the manager for him to "ok" it.

I mean, come on! How many people have to get involved to make a simple exchange?! I discussed the situation with the manager and he reluctantly exchanged one of the two products for a new one because I only had one receipt. Fair enough.

Yet the treatment that I received from this guy was awful. Not only was he rude, he was a total jackass. I started to feel like he was acting like a jerk because of the color of my skin.

The way I see it, "If you can't treat people who are your customers equally, you shouldn't be dealing with people at all."

Not wanting to jump to conclusions, a few months later the new product I purchased from the store broke. I went to the store, and went through the same treatment AGAIN!

The manager refused to exchange until I let him know that I was a Foxworth employee. Yes, the same company. He then said he was only exchanging the product because of that reason.

Yes, they exchanged my product for me, but only this time they did not give me my receipt. Obviously to keep me from coming back.

One day I mentioned the incident to a co-worker who is caucasion. Turns out, he goes to the same place to exchange the same product all the time. And without a receipt! Never being turned away, with no harsh treatment.

I now shop at other hardware stores that do honor the life time warranty on this product, no questions asked. And without the attitude.
