I received a call back in December from a Andy Laubner from Advanced Travel Systems offering a block of rooms for LightFair, Philadelphia in May. I told him that I do not like dealing with room brokers as I don't feel they give good discount plus there's an added layer to the process. He assured me that he would work to get us the best deal and would make the experience smooth as they wanted our business going forward. I gave him a try and he came back with a decent rate and a really nice hotel so I had him secured the block of room... I thought I was set.
I sent an e-mail to the broker 2 days ago to inquire about increasing our room block and didn't get a reply. I sent another e-mail yesterday... Still no reply. I called the 800 number today with a response of "All circuits" are busy. I suspected that we were either scammed or they went out of business. I called the hotel that we were supposed to be booked to see if there was a block of rooms made on our behalf but sadly there were none.
I'm not sure when they went out of business but I am $1800 out plus I have to scramble to find rooms for this very popular conference.
DO NOT BOOK with them!!!
