Reservations were made by my company for the 2011 CES. We needed to add one room to the reservation which Event Connect did. It was then determined that the date for this reservation needed to be changed and I verbally made this change with the booking agent. Unfortunately the change was never recorded with the property involved. Our employeed arrived on his normal date and was told he had no reservation because it was canceled as he was a no show on the date the reservation had been made for.
The property was unwilling or unable to provide him a room and we had to book him someplace else. Fortunately we were able to do this. Upon my return to the office after the CES show I started trying to communicate with Event Connect to try to resolve the issue and get a refund for the rooms that we had prepaid and booked with them. My calls were never returned and when they were the person I needed to speak to, Roxanne was never available and would call me back. I made several calls to Event Connect and again never got a return call.
Finally on 3.1.2011 I spoke to a Jennifer who promised me that Roxanne would call me back that day. Well you guessed it she never called. On 3.2.2011 I again called Event Connect to speak to Roxanne who again was unavailable. I spoke to Jennifer again who said Roxanne just walked in. Finally I was able to speak to her. She told me she had never received any of my calls for her or any messages that I was trying to reach her. I have also sent emails to my only contact which was the booking agent who never responded to me.
Long story short, I still have not recieved any refund for the mistake. I have at least now been in communication with Roxanne who says that she is now trying to resolve the issue and hopefully will get at least a partial refund. My advice to anyone wishing to make reservations for such a major event is to do them yourself directly with the property of your choice and avoid paying the price for any third party booking companies.
I know for one thing I will not use Event Connect again in the future just becasue of the poor communications. Regardless of what the error was they could have been a lot more responsive to my attempts to communicate with them. I won't go as far as saying this was an attempt to rip us off but was a mistake and could have easily been corrected without all of the frustration if there has been better communication on their part.
