Mr. Stox
Discrimination

I made a reservation at Mr. Stox restaurant on March 15 for an event I was going to hold. I was told that they've had my type of event there before and that it sounds like fun. On March 15th I went to go look at the rooms they had available for my event. I loved everything and it was exactly what I was looking for. So I requested to put down my deposit once she figures out how much it was going to be per person. Debbie Marshall said it would take a while to figure that number out. I told her I wasn't in a hurry and I could wait because I would like to put down a deposit today. Debbie said she would send me some layouts for the room set up and she would send it to me by email. She Got her date book for bookings and asked if I have a business card. I gave her my business card and she took my information and then gave it back to me. (which I thought was weird). That meeting ended with Debbie getting back to me and we can do everything by email and phone.

To make the reservation I was told that they take a $100 deposit and that would go toward the bill for that night and that there is no room charge. When I called to go ahead an schedule the room for my event Ron told me I had to put down $300 deposit and that they don't hold rooms for under $300. Ron told me he can hold it for $200 down. So I said I can put $100 down today and then put another $100 down on Friday. Ron told me since I was such a nice person he would do it for $100. I told him thank you and I would be happy to still put a $100 down on Friday. He said that that would not be necessary. So I put down a deposit with Ron for a $100. After I put my desposit down I then sent am email to Debbie stating that I put a deposit down and that I look forward doing business with her. On March 16th I called Debbie to see if she received my email stating that I put a deposit down the day before. She said she did but it was suppose to be for $300. I then asked her if I'm reservation set for my event she said yes, but she has to call me back because she is at lunch. I had a few more questions to ask her but I didn't feel comfortable asking her.

By this time I didn't feel comfortable about her or anything that had to do with my reservation. She said she would send me an email about all the info and we can sign the paper work when I come in on Friday because I said I would put more money down even though I knew I didn't have to. I waited all day for my email to arrive and it never was sent over. So around 5:45pm March 16th. I called the restaurant and spoke with Mr. Stox himself and he said I was in he said I was in the books for my event with $100 deposit. I said great, but I was waiting for Debbie to send me a confirmation and I haven't received it yet. So he said he will leave a note for her to give me a call. The next day on March 17th I finally received my email. Nothing was what it was suppose to be. Before there was no room charge. She put on the bill that there was going to be a $200 room charge and that charge was just for the room. Plus my bill and gratuities and tax. I call the restaurant and asked to speak with Debbie and Ron answered the phone. When I was to speak with a manager he said Debbie is the one I have to talk to and she is the owner of the restaurant. So I then asked to speak with her. He told me that she was at lunch. So I said I would call back. I called back to just ask for my deposit back and to see if he can refund it. A woman answered the phone and I told her I booked an event and I would like to cancel it. She said ok then asked whom I was speaking with and she told me this is Debbie. I was not happy and I said that I just asked to speak with you and someone said you were at lunch. She said she was still at lunch and she just happen to be at the front desk. I told her what she told me and what she put on the paper work was two different things, and she said, " well I should have told you that before."

Overall, Debbie Marshall was not a very nice person to me and she did not stick with what she told me in the beginning. Everything changed and I didn't understand why.
