In September I payed a $1500 retainer for to attorney for an annulment. She assured me, gave a verbal agreement that if matter was uncontested like I assured her it was going to be, the price wouldn't be more than that. She bagan to tack on exorbant fees for email, phone calls, letter etc. She asked to see a document which is my prior divorce action even though it wasn't necessary, she said it was for curiosity. When she reviewed it she charged over $200 and more to mail it back! Excessive charges were also made for calls tht she made to me etc. Then she asked for more money for a retainer. I told her of the agreement to not charge anymore than $1500 no answer. She wanted me to come in and discuss with her further but I refused because I didn't want her to charge anothr exorbant fee and requested tht she email me instead to corrospond with me. Once again no answer. I called left msg with secretaries. Once again no answer. I call the court house to see if she even requested a court date the court official said she didn't. When I requested tht she correspond with me via email I also asked about the court date because I was becoming ever so frustrated because she wasn't answering my question abt whether there has even been a date requested on her part to the courts. I talked with a document preparer and a paralegal and they both agreeded for the little she has done she charged an excessive amount. My husband has been served he didn't contest. All she has filed is a document for fee waiver and limited scope. Thtat is it. It is going on the fourth month and little progress and she bis sapping up more and more of my money like a vacuum cleaner. I am also disabled and she knows this and also on a small income. I believe tht she is taking advantage of me due to my disability as well. She is sadly mistaken if she thinks my disability renders me 'stupid' because I am not.
