While Mr. Jesperson was very helpful in handling my divorce, when I asked him to help my new husband with a child support issue, he completely dropped the ball.
He took our retainer and said he would handle the case. However, when the court date was pending, he said he would get a date change because we had a conflict with the hearing date.
He did not do that.in fact, he didn't asked for a date change, he did not tell us he was not going to do that, he did not even tell us of the court date so we could show up on our own.
Because we did not know of the court date, no one from our side showed up. The case was decided completely in favor of the child's mother. At that point, the child support started accruing and once child support is decided, it is VERY difficult to get it changed.
While I totally agree that a child needs support from both parents, because our side was not represented in the child support hearing, the amount was totally unrelated to my new husband's income.
Mr. Jesperson's irresponsibility created a very difficult situation for us. Two simple and timely phone calls would have completely solved the problem.
And when I repeatedly called and left messages to speak to him about this case, he did not return any of my 11 (eleven!) calls.
