I received a letter from a local attorney on May 1. It states that I was to appear in court in March regarding a suit from Midland Funding. It's been a month and a half since the court date has passed! I never received any summons of any kind regarding this court date. It states the amount I owe is $1500. So, I just don't know what to do at this point. If I had known, I would have gone to court. I looked at my local court system online and I see the "case" out there, but it said the summons was not served to me.
So, do I contact the courts, or the attorney, or midland funding? The only info the attorney sent me was the name of the original creditor, circuit city, and the amount of $1500. But there was no "proof" provided that I owe this debt. The credit card from circuit city was from 8 years ago. Is it too late to request that since the court date has come and gone? Since I was never served papers, can I still do that at this point? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank You.
