I have been a local directv customer since I have never missed a payment or been late in 7 years. About a month ago I called their customer service line to see if there was a way to lower my bill and if I was under any type of contract. I was told there was nothing they could do for me to lower the bill (I've been unemployed for 2 years) and that I was not under any contact. The customer service rep then put me on hold to check the account again, came back and said "NO, YOU ARE NOT UNDER ANY CONTRACT AGREEMENT WITH US!" I explained that I would be switching to beable to lower my bill and she said "Sorry to hear that". Today I called to cancel my service because I have switched to a different provider with a lower monthly bill and was told that I was magically under a 2 year contract for a DVR that they replaced a year ago. The DVR they replaced was not working and they had already send me 2 previous DVR's that did not work either. That is what they are stating put me under a 2 year agreement.
