On December 23, I cancelled my service with Direct TV because it had become too expensive for me. I had called several times requesting to be considered for one of their deals but was told it was only for new customers. I contacted several other companies and found one I could afford so decided to switch. Before I cancelled my service with Direct TV I confirmed that I was not under any contract with them and would not have to pay any fees. I had service with Direct TV for two and a half years and my contract was up after two years. On Dec 26, Direct TV charged my bank account in the amount of $329.51 (I had a $10.00 credit on my Direct TV acct or it would have been $339.51) claiming it was Early Cancellation Fee. This was a mistake on their part which they admitted and told me it would take 6-8 weeks to refund my money back. I called on Jan 2, Jan 8, Jan 27, Feb 17 and March 9. I was assured on Jan 2 by a supervisor that my account would be credited 6-8 business days. I continued to call, checking to see what kind of progress had been made, speaking to Supervisors two other times and each time was told something different. On Feb 17, a supervisor by the name of Frank told me that my Direct TV account had not been credited yet and he would do so right away. He then told me it would take another 6-8 weeks to receive my money. I called this morning, March 9 and was again told my account had not been credited and it would take another 6-8 weeks. I have given this company more than enough time to correct their mistake. Direct TV took it upon themselves to take the money out of my account without my permission. This is fraud. I returned their equipment promptly and paid my bills. I have requested to talk to a manager and asked for an address I could file a complaint with but to no avail. I suggest you do not use this company. Their stockholders should be held responsible!
