Appox. A year ago, I contacted ADT for an estimate to monitor one of my properties. The ADT representative came and gave the estimate. About a week later they contacted me to set up an appointment for the installation. When it was time for the installation, they contacted me again to cancel the appointment.
Since then ADT has not installed the proper equipment to monitor the property. So over the last year I have contacted representatives at ADT to cancel the billing. I now supposedly owe them $883.27 for services that I have never received. Here is the summary of my account:
5/17/03 Service Charges $5.63
10/19/02 Customer Cancellation $197.16
11/19/02 Customer Cancellation $32.86
12/19/02 Customer Cancellation $35.82
1/19/03 Customer Cancellation $36.31
2/19/03 Customer Cancellation $36.85
3/19/03 Customer Cancellation $36.85
4/19/03 Customer Cancellation $37.39
5/19/03 Customer Cancellation $37.40
5/29/03 Customer Cancellation $23.00 Credit?
5/29/03 Customer Cancellation $450.00
The total balance equals: $883.27
I consistently receive bills in the mail, and I consistently attempt to contact ADT to resolve this ficticious bill. The bill shows that the cancellation of the service (which never actually started) costs 4 times more than if I actually received and used the service. This is the poorest experience I have ever had with any corporation. To me it seems like this is standard practice with ADT. The practice of ripping their customers (or consumers in my case) off to make their money back from inadequate management.
