If directv is as "honest" as they attempt to claim they are, then tell me this

If DIRECTV is such an "outstanding, reputable" company as they try to convince their unsuspecting victims they are, then why is it that regardless of the circumstances they only give their customers a mere 24 hours in which to cancel. If you attempt to cancel for any reason after that time before the 2 year contract is up (the one that they fail to make you aware you are agreeing to simply by agreeing to sign up for their services) you will be charged an early termination fee of $480.00.in fact, I honestly believe they go out of their way to piss their customers off on purpose so they will want to cancel early, because then they can charge them this outrageous early termination fee.

I feel that this fact alone speaks volumes as to how this company operates, because if they truly believe in the services that they provide, then why don't they have stand behind it with something more realistic like a 30 to 90 day guarantee that states if the customer is unhappy "for any reason", that they can cancel their services without being charged an early termination fee and only charging them for the service they had been receiving up to that date? Good question don't you think?

As upsetting as it is to fall victim to their unethical business practices, the fact that they continue to get away with it on a daily basis, despite the thousands of complaints being filed on an ongoing basis and no action is being taken, simply compounds the anger of their victims.

For anyone who might be considering subscribing with DIRECTV, DON"T DO IT. These people leaving complaints on this web site aren't doing it because they have nothing better to do with their time. They are doing it because they are at their wits end and simply need to vent, after their numerous attempts to try and resolve the problem through all other resources has failed.

You should also take in to consideration as you view this site, that anytime you come across a rebuttal left by a so called "Consumer", "Employee" or "Ex-Employee" in which they attempt to defend the actions of DIRECTV, I can almost assure you that these people are no doubt employees of DIRECTV that are being paid to monitor this site and write rebuttals to the numerous complaints being filed daily, in order to somehow try and convince people that DIRECTV is not as bad as everyone is saying they are. Don't believe it. If they aren't being paid, then what other excuse would they have for even visiting this website? I'm sure that most of the people who are leaving complaints found this website the same way I did, I was angry and was curious if to see if other people had fallen victim to DIRECTV's deceptive practices and what they did to resolve it, so I GOOGLED "DIRECTV COMPLAINTS" and this site came up near the top of the list. We don't take the time out of our busy schedules to write these complaints just for the heck of it and we're not being paid to do so by DIRECTV's competitors either. We are simply victims of DIRECTV who are P_SSED OFF and want something to be done about the unethical and illegal practices of this company, so we come here to vent and hope that sooner or later our voices will be heard or a solution will be found.

For those who still have doubts that what we are saying about DIRECTV is true, I think the fact they settled a class action lawsuit back in 1985 that was filed against them for the very reason these people are complaining now, which is the early termination fees and not fully disclosing the fact that when you sign up for their services you are committed to a 2 year contract.in settling this lawsuit, they claimed no wrong doing (what a joke), however they agreed to refund everyone named in the lawsuit for the early termination fees, as well as other wrongful charges stated in the suit and on top of that paid an additional 5 Million dollars to cover the legal expenses for filing the suit. If that doesn't say "GUILTY", I don't know what does.

Also, as part of this settlement they were suppose to change the way they did business by clarifying their contract and making sure they provided "FULL DISCLOSURE" in regards to these matters. However, apparently once these lawyers received their money, they failed to follow up to make sure this was done, therefore they continue to operate in the same deceptive way they always have and no doubt always will until someone finally takes action and shuts this company down.

It's absolutely unconceivable to me, why this company is allowed to continue to get away with this crap... What's the deal? Are they involved in organized crime? Why is everyone to scared to confront this problem? Any other company would have been made to correct the problem or be fined or shut down all together, so why isn't anything being done in this case?

Still P_issed off after trying to cancel after 48 hrs of crappy service and being told I would be charged $480. This company is without a doubt, the worst company I have ever done business with and definitely the worst mistake I've made in my nearly 50 years of life.
