In December of 1996, my husband bought a DirectTV satellite system from a local business. After our trial period, we had a representative from DirectTV call us and offer us the Basic package, no "special movie" packages included for $69.00 for a full year (April 97 to April 98).
We paid the special price, and received a bill each month that stated we had $0 balance due, and in February of 98, we received a notice that our "special" ending date was up, and that we owed them more money. But we still had two more months to go. My husband basically told them to shove it, and then they shut us off. We never received another bill or heard from them again. Until this past week.
Five years later, they have turned us into a collection agency and say that we owe them $133.48. We have absolutely no idea where on earth they came up with that sum, and we had never been shut off before, and we did not cancel our agreement. They are the one's that are in the wrong, and we are not paying the bill they "claim" that we owe. We haven't had Direct TV in over 5 years, and we will never subscribe or suggest them to anyone EVER!
They are a very crooked, whacked out company that cheated us, and are trying to rip us off $133.48 more.
Has anyone else had this same thing happen to them?
