I ordered a custom made wood and silver ring from www.wood-rings.com. The company insisted on charging US$40 for International postage which I questioned but was told take it or leave it. The postage actually cost CAD$8.43.
Payment was made through Paypal.
The ring arrived in what appeared to be good condition but started deteriorating within a few days as chunks of wood started falling off.
Numerous attempts at communicating with the company to inquire about warranty claims were ignored.
I initiated action through Paypal during which time the company did their best to ignore me and blame the poor workmanship on the way I wore the ring. I initially asked for a 50% refund (which was ignored by the company), but as the ring continued to fall apart I insisted on returning the ring for a refund. The company refused and so the issue was escalated to Paypal for a final decision.
The company only then decided to offer me a 25% refund, which I refused, followed by a 50% refund, which I again refused as by this time the ring had deteriorated so much I was unable to wear it.
Unfortunately Paypal refused to get involved with this issue and closed the case without taking action so I ended up being left with a rather expensive, poorly made, falling apart piece of jewellery.
