My fiancee also bought my rings at Kay Jewelers, we had them customized to put rubies in the wedding ring (his birthstone). They were purchased 7, we were married 6. I took the rings in for the 6 month inspection. The DAY we got married, while the ink was drying on the marriage license I might add, I looked down and one of the rubies was missing.
We were leaving for our honeymoon in a few days and I wanted to show my ring off so I did not take it in to be repaired. While we were on vacation, 2 more rubies fell out. When we returned and took the ring back in, it came back smaller (we were in Mexico on vacation - VERY HUMID) so they resized the ring.
A few weeks later, the last ruby fell out, once again they repaired the ring. The latest incident is one of the marquise diamonds (there are 2 on each side of the ring) fell out. They are now going to get it repaired, and then send it to a custom jeweler to see why the stones keep falling out. I wish to have it sent to a store of my choosing, they say they can't do that because it isn't an approved store of theirs.
Now before you question the care of my rings, I took them in for their check-up 2 WEEKS BEFORE THIS LAST INCIDENT. My hands aren't broken, the ring isn't bent. This particular ring has 2 prong set marquise diamonds and 4 channel set rubies. I have rings that I wear nearly everyday and used to race off-road and didn't have a problem with stones falling out.
I suggested that they repair my ring and give my husband his money back. That's when they decided to send it to a custom jeweler (of their chosing). My husband's assistant thinks this ring is possessed - I'm beginning to think the same thing.
