After having Direct Tv for 6 years, I decided to change to Dish Network because of their current 3 months free offer. And so my trouble began. Direct TV has been awesome through everything I must note. But here is the story. So the receiver and dish arrives with the service techs. The Receiver is HUGE and take up most my space on the TV stand, then they tell me that the sky isn't a clear enough view to get my local channels, which Direct TV had no problem getting the local channels. So I had them remove the extra charge for local channels. So they leave, and it's not working right, I ordered a 2 room set up, and there is a little antenna on the back that is supposed to some how reach the TV in the bedroom so you don't get two boxes just one. So to change the channel in the bedroom you have to stand half way down the hall. So I called and they said there isn't anything they can do except suggest that I aim the antenna towards the bedroom. This should have been my first signal to get out. So I get my first bill, expecting it to be free, and no. It's two months of service charged all at once. I was so furious I called and went through 4 people and a supervisor who told me the three months free is your 3rd, 10th and 20 something bill, and it's not free it's a credit of $39.99 to it. Hardly what they advertised. So I told them I wanted to ever was above them, I finally got to a place where they spoke English and they said they were in the executive office and he agreed and credited my account to make the bill go from $98.09 to $45.75, but the next month would be the regular charge of $61.95. So I checked my bank account today (5 weeks after this event) and they debited my account $89.98 under a name of SATELITE TV PROC. Serv. HOUSTON and it had the last four digits of a card that had been cut up for over 4 weeks because I got married and changed my name. I called and they said they had no idea about this bill and it wasn't them. Direct TV has already sent me a 0 balance statement and I called to be sure it wasn't them. I am filing a complaint against them with the BBB and disputing the charge with my bank as well. I am canceling this service as soon as I am done writing this. Not only was this False advertising and billing fraud, it is flat out mean and illegal. The reps I spoke with were all very rude, the executive office was the only nice person I spoke with. Fair warning, do not EVER give these people your service or any of your billing information.
