No service for 6 days

A windstorm took out my phone service on Saturday, March 8. I reported it to Verizon the same day. I called their repair service and was told that someone would be out the next day. Well, of course, no one showed. I called back and was told that they don't work on Sundays, the repair person that I spoke with denied that someone had told me that. I called back early Monday morning and was told that the problem was in the line (no dialtone) and that someone would arrive by 5:00 P.M. Of course, no one showed up.

Upset at this time I called back and was told that someone would be here on Wednesday by 2:00 P.M. A repair guy did show up around 4:00 P.M., knocked on my door only to tell me that the problem was not in my house (he apparently checked my line before coming to my door). Well I already knew that because Verizon can check you line over the phone. He informed me that he was not the person that could fix it because it would take what they call a cable guy. He further informed me that it would probably be an additional 3 days before he could come out.

I at this called Customer Service several times. Only to talk to some of the rudest people I have ever met! I was told that they did not have enough repair guys to go around. Come on! This is Verizon the one with the commercial with the guy walking around with about 300 people following him! I was yelled at and told that I would just have to wait. I was hung up on. It wasn't until I put in to have my service turned over to another provider that I received some help.

The next after making a request for another provider to take over my phone and internet service, I received 3 yes, 3 copies of the same letter delivered in 3 separate packages by the UPS courier. Then the phone calls started coming in from Verizon. They wanted to offer me discounts for my service being interrupted. I explained that I had to activate an old pay as you go phone just to have service for those 6 days, I sell on Ebay and some people had tried to contact me. Not to mention I had items on Craigslist and received an email from someone who was going to purchase something from me but since I did not return their emails they were no longer interested. I was not surprise to see all of the complaints against Verizon!

I still plan on transferring my service to another company. I am just waiting for them to get their new arrivals of routers in so I can use my wireless. While watching the news this past Sunday evening I heard where there are several customers in the Southeast area of Washington, DC who have been out of Service for 10 days. One was a 91 year old man who has diabetes and needed his phone service to have the van to pick him up for his doctor appointments. Now that the news media is involved hopefully Verizon will change it's non-caring ways! I remember before the company were joined and it was Bellatlantic... Excellent service! Verizon, you should be ashamed of yourself! And screen appliants for customer service jobs!

My service came on sometime during the day on March 13th - 6 days later! One other thing, take time to call the customer and let them know that their service is back on... My phone rang and scared the heck out of me!
